Additional Tax Forms
If you need additional or less common federal tax forms, you can download and print them directly from the IRS website. Visit www.irs.gov/forms-instructions to find a full range of forms, publications, and resources.
If you need additional or less common Illinois tax forms, you can download and print them directly from the Illinois Department of Revenue Website. Visit tax.illinois.gov/forms/incometax/individual.html to choose from all current and prior year forms.
Free File Program
The IRS also offers a Free File program to assist individuals and families with preparing their taxes. If your 2024 income is $84,000 or less, you may qualify to use free tax software to file your federal taxes online. The program is fast, easy, and secure, and it helps guide you step-by-step through the filing process. Learn more and get started by visiting apps.irs.gov/app/freeFile/
Free Tax Assistance
In addition to tax forms and the Free File program, there are two excellent resources for free, in-person tax assistance:
AARP Foundation Tax-Aide: This program offers free tax preparation help to anyone, with a focus on taxpayers who are 50 and older or have low to moderate income. AARP Tax-Aide volunteers are IRS-certified and trained to assist with most common tax issues. To find a Tax-Aide location near you, visit www.aarp.org.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA): The VITA program offers free tax help to people who generally make $60,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and those with limited English proficiency. IRS-certified volunteers provide assistance with basic tax returns, ensuring accuracy and ease. To find a VITA site near you, visit irs.treasury.gov/freetaxprep.
