Aug 15 @ 6:30 PM–Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury– In a futuristic and oppressive society where books are not only banned but burned, fireman Guy Montag begins to question his duty after meeting an eccentric neighbor.  Montag begins to hoard and read these forbidden books.  When Montag is betrayed he faces a dilemma, should he turn over these books to be burned or risk his career and keep them?

Sept. 19 @ 7:00 PM–There Are No Children Here by Alex Kotlowitz– There are no children here is a moving and powerful account of two remarkable boys struggling to survive Chicago’s Henry Horner homes, a public housing complex disfigured by crime and neglect.

Oct. 17 @ 7:00 PM–Spook by Mary Roach–  Best selling author Mary Roach attempts to answer questions such as “What happens when we die? Does the light just go out and that’s that―the million-year nap? Or will some part of my personality, my me-ness persist? What will that feel like? What will I do all day? Is there a place to plug in my lap-top?” Using an array of people with various backgrounds, they all try to prove (or disprove) that life goes on after we die.
